Lee Joo-Yeon

Chung Hyun-Hee
Abstract
The present study was conducted to examine the relationship between cognitive triad and symptoms of depression and anxiety in children. 532 children(297 boys, 235 girls) in 5th and 6th grade completed measures including CTI-C, CDI and RCMAS. Results of multiple regression analyses revealed that cognitive triad was significantly related with depression and anxiety in both boys and girls. Specifically, views about self, world and future predicted boys¡¯ depression, whereas views about self and world predicted girls¡¯ depression. Anxiety was predicted by views about self and world in both gende groups. Views about world was the strongest predictor of anxiety in both boys and girls. Results of stepwise discriminant analysis indicated that 66.3% of the children were accurately classified based on CTI-C alone, suggesting that cognitive triad can be a useful tool in discriminating depression and anxiety in children.
